The stepladder finals of the 1997 USBC Senior Masters carried a lot of story lines with it, most importantly the race for PBA Senior Player of the Year between Earl Anthony and Gary Dickinson.
Joining those two gentlemen on the telecast were Johnny Petraglia, Roger Tramp and Bob Hart.

Ninh explains candlepin bowling
Candlepin bowling is an incredibly difficult variation of the sport. It is 10 pin bowling but the pins are tall and narrow and the ball weighs 4 pounds (with no holes). Players get 3 shots to knock down all the pins. It is scored exactly like bowling except that all pins down on 3 shots is a score of 10 with no carryover. The highest score ever achieved in candlepin is 245. A 150 average is Hall of Fame stuff.
